A 22-year-old woman of Indonesian nationality was rescued today from a cruise ship “Mein Schiff 4”, which sailed 135 nautical miles (about 250 kilometres) south of Madeira.
Following the warning received at 11:15 this morning, through the ship, to inform that a passenger complained of strong pains in the abdominal area, the Portuguese Navy, through the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisboa), the Municipal Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center of Funchal (MRSC Funchal) and the Urgent Patients Guidance Center in the Sea (CODU-Mar) was engaged in the Portuguese Air Force rescue site. The operation was carried out by an EH-101 aircraft from the Portuguese Air Force stationed in Porto Santo.
The passenger was safely and stablely rescued to Madeira airport - Cristiano Ronaldo, where he was waiting for an ambulance from the Firefighters Sapadores de Santa Cruz and an EMIR medical team, however, triggered by the Regional Civil Protection Service. The victim was sent to the hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça, where he entered the Emergency Service (SU).
