The President of the Regional Government believes that rapid antigen tests that should soon be available in pharmacies will be a good tool in the fight against the pandemic, but stressed that this solution will have to be controlled.
“At the beginning of next week we will have a meeting with our Health team, to see how we will do, because this system has to be controlled”, said Miguel Albuquerque, warning that, otherwise, there may be room for “fraud and selling a pig in a poke”. “All this has to be controlled.”
“I will not allow the misfortune to be used to do business or to do fraud, so it will all be guided and we will obviously take advantage of this opportunity, but it must always be supervised by competent entities,” he assured, although without giving details in relation to how this process will be controlled.
