The ‘Funchal Always Front’ coalition wants to bring the Academy to the City and take the City to the Academy. To do this, you will create a municipal network of research centres, in order to create an institutional link between the different research centres of the University of Madeira (UMa) and the Municipality of Funchal (CMF).
In this way, Pedro Calado wants to bring the UMa to the “interior” of the City by narrowing the relations between the Academy and the CMF.
The goal of this network is to enhance the formation of the new generations, making the connection between the Academy and the working world. In addition, with this network, the various research centres of the UMa would also be called to participate in the CMF’s investment capture strategy, while also empowering new generations to have more practical training, focusing on a vocational training strand based on research and the support of the CMF.
Recently, the application “Funchal Ever à Frente” held a meeting with the Academic Association of the University of Madeira (AAUMA), having Pedro Calado assumed the commitment to invest in training, extending scholarships to various university cycles.
The head of the list for the coalition of the PSD/CDS to the mayor of Funchal intends beyond the licenciatures, to extend the funding of the scholarships to masters and doctoral degrees. A measure also covers the higher technical courses.
