Duarte Gouveia, candidate of the Liberal Initiative to the Municipality of Funchal, summarized today in three sentences the campaign of the party in the Madeiran capital.
“The first message is: less fees, less tacos. The second is that having elected Liberals makes all the difference and therefore this is also an opportunity to change the Austrian policy in this case, of Funchal. The third is our campaign slogan, which is ‘modern, moderate and free’, and that is what characterizes us as liberals, as committed people, as people who are here prepared and available to improve the city,” he said in the last campaign action at Largo do Município.
On the expettive election night, Duarte Gouveia recalled that it is the first time the party competes for the mayoral election. “In the Regional [elections] we had 0.7%, and this time we hope we have a lot more. But it doesn’t make much sense in a party that wants to grow up very quickly, to be talking about barriers. We want to grow up and a lot. This is our expectations,” he said.
Regarding the campaign, the head of the list to the Municipality of Funchal considered it “long”.
“It was full of proposals, initiatives, publications, shares. Finally, many content was produced, but surely voters could not hear everyone or because they did not want or because they could not “, he mentioned.
