Today, the new ‘Space of the Citizen’ was opened at the Casa do Povo de Santa Maria Maior, in a ceremony attended by Augusta Aguiar, Regional Secretary of Social Inclusion and Citizenship.
In this regard, the ruler considered that this new space will allow “to decentralize several important services to one of the large population nuclei of Funchal, thus providing support to the citizen, with more and better services”.
As a statement sent to the editorial board, the parish of Santa Maria Maior is now available at a single service desk where several issues related to the Public Administration can be resolved through the internet.
“It consists of a digital assisted service, where the population can, for example, obtain social security statements and the digital certificate of Covid-19,” he adds.
Augusta Aguiar highlighted the social mission of the People’s Houses in support of the populations in a situation of greater social and economic vulnerability, further pointing out that “in a pandemic context, the Regional Government once again counted with the People’s Houses as partners, on the front line of population support”.
“The People’s House of Santa Maria Maior was a partner of the Regional Support Fund for Local Organizations (FAROL) and the Emergency Fund for Social Support (FEAS), created to support families who lost income in the context of the pandemic of COVID-19,” he said.
“This People’s House has always been on the front line of support for the population of Santa Maria Maior, identifying the main needs and creating the solutions that best give them response. The inauguration of the Citizen’s Space is another step in this direction “, he added.
